Whether you are planning an epic multi-day trek or horseback riding adventure in Kyrgyzstan, it’s important to be prepared with all the right gear so that you are comfortable and ready for all types of weather. If you don’t want to bring all your trekking and camping gear with you to Kyrgyzstan, this page offers some options on where to rent gear or to buy it in Bishkek, Karakol and Osh. Note: Please check the packing list recommendations at the bottom of all of our trekking and horse trek tours for essential items. We provide the basic equipment on these tours, but we do recommend bringing a sleeping bag. If you prefer to rent this than bring it from home, please let us know. The cost is approximately $6/day.
Buying and Renting Camping and Trekking Gear in Bishkek
There is only one gear-renting agency in Bishkek, but there are plenty of shops selling outdoor gears to make sure you are properly outfitted for your upcoming trek or horse back riding adventure.
- Trekking Union of Kyrgyzstan ( TUK ) rents trekking gears, sells trekking maps, and ski equipment. They can give handy info and recommendations on one-day hikes around Bishkek city. They also do group tours for day hikes around Bishkek.
- Gerger Sport sells outdoor gear like backpacks, clothes and other items, as well as mountain bikes. They have several shops across Bishkek. This is also a good place to rent bicycles.
- Red Fox has a good shop in Bishkek where you can almost find all the outdoor gear you need for a trek. They also sells ski equipment if you decide to come for a winter visit to Kyrgyzstan to explore skiing and other winter sports opportunities.
Renting Camping and Trekking Gear in Karakol
- Destination Karakol runs the local visitor center that can assist you with renting trekking gear as well as organizing local cultural dinners and other experiences.
- Eco-Trek rents out trekking and camping equipment.
- Extreme Tour is a shop with outdoor equipment for sale.
Renting Trekking and Camping Gear in Osh
You can rent the following camping and trekking gear from Visit Alay in Osh. If you prefer to buy your own gear in Osh, you can find some camping and trekking equipment like good sleeping bags, mats, and heavyweight tents at local bazaars like Kelechel Bazaar.

Rental Policies of Renting a Camping gear, Tour Equipment, Hiking tools in Kyrgzystan
Start Date
Your start date is the day you pick up your equipment.
Return Date
This is the day you must either drop your gear off with us by our office.
Cleanliness is next to Godliness
Don’t forget, all gear must be clean (meaning not full of dirt) and dry (meaning dry). If you don’t return gear clean and dry, we will charge you an additional fee. Mold and mildew can do a lot of damage and we don’t want to charge you for it.
Inspection of Equipment:
Please, upon receiving the equipment check and do a proper examination. To make sure everything is in good condition. Then the rented equipment be accepted.
Don’t be Late
Would be good if you send your gear back on time. If for some reason this doesn’t happen, we will charge you a daily fee. This adds up pretty quickly and we don’t want you to be surprised by it.
Damaged Gear
If rental items are damaged, torn, stained and missing parts, burn holes, and dents. Then we will charge a fee for fixing or replacing. Just treat the gear like you own it and there shouldn’t be any problem.
Lost or Stolen Gear
When you rent, it is your responsibility to get it back to us. If we don’t get it back, we will need to charge you.
Reserving Gear
Please reserve your gear as far in advance as possible. We will run out of some items during our busy times.
Cancellation Policy
If you cancel one week in advance of your pick-up date, we have a “go in peace” policy…..no charge.
